SUMMARY:America's Boating Course - ABC
DESCRIPTION:ABC is the U.S. Power Squadron’s basic boating course for new boaters.\nWe will cover mostly everything from getting started to navigation rules\, aids to navigation\, lights and sound signals\, overview of navigation charts and boater regulations.\nCompletion of the class\, with a passing grade\, allows you to have an Official NASBLA North Carolina Boating License. Any person born on or after Jan. 1\, 1988\, is required to complete a NASBLA approved boating course in order to legally operate a motorized boat of 10 horsepower or more\, on the public waters of North Carolina.\n\nWe encourage parents to bring the older kids to learn about boater safety and get NASBLA Certified. DESCRIPTION:Southport Sail and Power Squadron (SSPS) will offer its premier basic boating safety course on Saturday\, February 21. It is designed for boaters of all types – Sail\, Power \, and PWC’s.\nThe ABC course is fully approved by the Coast Guard and NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators).\nSuccessful completion meets NC requirements for certification to operate a boat for anyone under the age of 26 and may provide a discount on boat insurance.\nTopics include boat terminology\, boat handling\, knots\, VHF radio\,Navigation Aids and rules\, North Carolina regulations\, and more.The location will be at the Cape Fear Regional Airport\, 4015 Airport Road\,Southport\, NC. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM and the course will begin at 9:00 AM\, concluding at approximately 5:00 PM.Cost will be $60\, including lunch and a 260 page text.
